Book Review: Valerina’s Dream Came True

Review

Valerina’s Dream Came True is a children’s book by Marie Lee for children ages 4 – 8 years old. The book tells the story of a girl who’s excited to finally meet her favorite animal. It’s a fun book to read and girls would find Valerina just as interesting as her favorite animal! With meaningful illustrations that show actions and emotions, it can be very appealing to children. The book also has relatable characters, an interesting story that is developmentally appropriate for children because of the information they can learn from it, and the setting is fascinating because what child doesn’t want a book where a girl goes to a local zoo? Also, there are questions at the end of it, so children can have fun answering them after reading the book.

Overall, I’m giving this book 3 out of 5 stars. It has potential and could be a great book if proper editing is done. I found many errors from the beginning and all throughout the book, so that’s one of the reasons why I deducted points from the rating. Although these are minor errors and children won’t notice them, as an adult we still want to make sure that our children get the best quality book. Another thing is that the photos are too cropped or resized. For adults, they would appear weird and not pleasing in the eyes, but children won’t be able to identify these things yet so they would find it appealing as long as it’s colorful and the main characters and setting are pretty or good to look at.
